Maison Berger was born from a revolutionary idea: to cleanse and purify the air from airborne bacteria. Pharmacy technician Maurice Berger developed and patented a catalytic diffusion system originally created to improve the air in hospitals. The Lampe Berger was born, an innovation that would become the foundation of the Maison.
As the Lampe Berger entered the home, function met beauty. Celebrated creators and French houses including René Lalique, Émile Gallé, Baccarat and Saint-Louis reimagined the lamp in crystal, glass and decorative forms. These collaborations infused the lamps with a touch of luxury, transforming them into symbols of elegance and refinement. With the addition of fragrance, an air-purifying invention became a coveted object of French design.
More than 125 years later, Maison Berger Paris continues to unite innovation, fragrance and design. The iconic Lampe Berger remains at its heart, alongside frequent designer collaborations, while the Maison continues to evolve with new ways to fragrance and enhance everyday living, from reed diffusers and candles to electric diffusion, laundry care and more. The brand has been awarded the EPV label – Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company), which recognizes French companies with exceptional artisanal and industrial expertise.

Independent testing confirms the absence of fumes and BTEX during diffusion, combining the performance of the catalytic system with a beautifully fragranced home.

In Bourgtheroulde, Normandy, 150 people carry forward more than 125 years of Maison Berger expertise. Today, some 480,000 Lampe Berger lamps are sold each year, alongside five million litres of home fragrance, bringing French savoir-faire to homes around the world.
Recognised with the prestigious Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV) label, the Maison continues to unite craftsmanship, technical expertise and innovation.

In Grand Bourgtheroulde, Normandy, 150 rare and iconic pieces tell the story of Maison Berger. Historic lamps, archival advertisements and original sketches reveal more than 125 years of innovation, fragrance and French design, including exceptional creations by Baccarat, Limoges and Desvres.
